A volatile month draws to a close, with global bond yields higher as inflation expectations remain elevated. With no sign of the end of the Middle East conflict, investors very much remain on edge. Ongoing concerns regarding A.I. spending are also weighing on sentiment.

Week ended June 26, 2026: stocks and bonds diverge
Stocks and bonds diverged last week, as volatility kicked into high gear especially around semi-conductor stocks. Yields came in across the curve as long term inflation expectations subsided. Gold and Bitcoin lost ground, and the US Dollar continued to grind higher.

Week ended October 31, 2025:
A.I. featured large again last week, mainly because it was the key talking point as five of the Mag 7 companies released earnings with mixed results. The FOMC decision also went as expected, although Mr Powell threw some caution into the wind. Global stock markets took it in stride, but the US Treasury market was less happy as yields rose across the curve. Gold was weaker again, and the US Dollar strengthened.
